The body is not just who we are — it is also what we have been through.
Whether visible scars or buried tensions, inherited postures or learnt gestures, it bears within it the traces of our personal, family and collective histories.
In several of her works, Virginie Linhart explores this powerful idea: the body as a place of memory, a repository of lived experiences, silent transmissions and inner conflicts. Caught between ideology and desire, family heritage and the drive for emancipation, the body becomes a space of tension where the narratives of our lives are written, sometimes without our realising it.
Echoing these reflections, Isabelle Cames and a healthcare professional from the Haute-Marne Occupational Health Association (ASTHM) will shed light on another dimension of this question: how is the body shaped, or even transformed, by one’s professional activity? From the body of the craftsperson, shaped by repetitive movements, to the body of the knowledge worker, marked by inactivity and mental strain — every profession leaves its own mark.
