Elise is a ballet dancer. She is injured during a performance and learns that she will no longer be able to dance. In this film, Elise’s body is the true protagonist. Initially a ‘body-object’ dedicated to classical performance, it breaks down only to be reborn as a ‘body-subject’.
Klapisch captures this metamorphosis: the end of technical constraint in favour of a body imbued with well-being.
Refusing to separate mind from matter, the film celebrates their complete fusion. Through this ‘philosophy of momentum’, the body is no longer a machine of perfection, but a living organism that expresses itself through perpetual movement, drawing its strength from the balance between its falls and its recoveries.
