‘Fear has its reasons which reason knows nothing of...’ ’ Clément Dazin and Lucas Bergandi set out to dissect fear (‘angst’, in German) in a spectacular performance combining juggling and tightrope acrobatics. They play on the audience’s fears and their own, in an attempt to understand this emotion that can save our lives or drive us straight into a wall.

Universal and fundamental, fear manifests itself in our bodies, sometimes unconsciously: sweaty palms, a racing heartbeat, paleness… These physical responses are immediate and difficult to control: the body reacts before the mind can analyse the situation. Whilst it can sometimes paralyse us, fear also awakens powerful bursts of vitality. Here, it prompts a reflection that goes beyond the realm of performance to question our relationship with the world.

School performance on Monday 5 October.
