Visiting Nogent

Along the streets

The historic district has a few surprises in store... The town has preserved a number of witnesses to its history, which can be seen by the curious.

  • Take the Porche de la Justice de Paix (Justice of the Peace Porch ) and admire the corner tower, built in the 19th century to evoke the memory of the vanished castle...
  • Nogent-le-Bas or Nogent-le-Haut, each district has its own church, one dedicated to Saint-Germain dating back to the 12th century, the second dedicated to Saint-Jean illustrating the neo-Gothic style of the 19th century.
  • Hidden from view, the Preslots crypt is a bewitching place, accessible by appointment.

How can you visit it?

You can visit the crypt on your own with the tour available on the IdVizit app, or with a guide from the Nohmad association (by appointment, min. 10 people).

At the source of history

In the Nogent woods stand two megaliths that are still emblematic of the area: the Pierre Alot and the Pierre Tournante...
Can you find them?

A city of cutlery

Between tradition and modernity

Renowned for the expertise of its craftsmen, Nogent cutlery has its roots deep in the 18th century.

Traditional, but resolutely forward-looking, it produces top-of-the-range hand tools, made-to-measure surgical instruments, prostheses in special alloys, parts for the aeronautics industry...

In Nogent and nearby villages, discover the work of local cutlery artisans…

A museum dedicated to cutlery

In the heart of the town, the Musée de la Coutellerie (Cutlery Museum ) preserves and highlights this heritage through exceptional collections.

Knives with mechanisms from the 18th century, military surgical cases from the 19th century, chisels, hand tools... are all on display for visitors to enjoy.
